Brinker/ Chili's Recognized for Pepper Campaign
Brinker

Restaurant Neighbor Award 2007 Finalist

Brinker International/ Chili's Grill & Bar puts its customers' artistic talents to the test during the annual Create A Pepper to Fight Childhood Cancer campaign. The campaign, which benefits St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, invites guests to donate $1 or more for the opportunity to color a pin-up of Chili's signature pepper. The promotion runs throughout September, which is National Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. For the 2006 campaign, Chili's rolled out customizable gift cards -- for every $25 in gift cards sold, the brand donated $1 to St. Jude. Wearing Create A Pepper shirts that they designed and colored, employees sell customizable T-shirts and wristbands. In June 2006, Chili's announced a 10-year commitment to raise $50 million for St. Jude -- the largest corporate donation in the hospital's history.

Brinker was recognized at the NRA Political Affairs Conference in Washington, D.C. Pictured is Jamee Green, Executive Director, GDRA, and Joe Taylor, Vice President of Corporate Affairs, Brinker.

PAC Pointer
Did you know that during the 80th Legislative Session, your TRA/ GDRA legislative team was hard at work for you? Successes include:

·        Passed legislation preventing cities from granting exclusive franchises for grease trap waste collection.

·        Passed legislation preventing suits by customers who consume raw oysters.

·        Defeated legislation tying the minimum wage to inflation.

More recently, the GDRA Board of Directors supported the repeal of the City of Dallas' verified response ordinance. Along with other members of the business community, the GDRA worked with Mayor Leppert and Dallas City Council to have the measure repealed allowing for police response time to business alarms to be greatly reduced.
