Students to be
Featured on Good Morning
Texas |
March 3-5 Good Morning Texas will
feature several area chefs promoting Savor Dallas. Chefs
will be assisted by FSPrep students from several area
schools. We appreciate the opportunity to partner with
Savor Dallas to help raise funds that will be used to
provide scholarships to area schools that offer the
FSPrep program. Tune in March 3-5 in the mornings
from 9:00-10:00 am on Channel 8 to see the future of our
industry hard at work.

Involved!! |
Are
you a political junkie? Do you enjoy learning more about
the political process? Get involved in GDRA's
Government Affairs Committee and help further
the political presence of our industry at the local,
state and federal level. Email Jamee at jgreen@gdra.org for more
information.
Recruitment for the 2008-2009 GDRA Board
of Directors will start soon. Are you a
restaurateur and have an interest in serving in the
leadership of the organization? If so, email Jamee at
jgreen@gdra.org for more
information.
The
Dallas City Council is reviewing amendments to the
"dogs on patios" variance that the city
passed last year. GDRA has been asked to work with
Council to come up with a compromise that will maintain
high sanitation levels in our restaurants, while still
providing the option for restaurants to
allow pet owners the opportunity of dining on
patios with their four-legged friends. Are
you a restaurant that would be interested in working on
this issue? Please contact Jamee at jgreen@gdra.org. |

| FSPrep Teacher
Roundtable |
FSPrep teachers from all over North
Texas attended the Teachers Roundtable, hosted by GDRA
and the Gaylord Texan, on February 7th. Teachers were
treated to a fabulous dinner at Ama Lur, as well as a
kitchen tour by
Executive Chef David Woodward.
Teachers also had the
opportunity to win gift certificates and prizes from
Medical City Heart, Zea Woodfire Grill, Luna de Noche,
Henry's Homemade Ice Cream, Roy's, and Two Rows Grill.
Roundtables are held once a semester to bring teachers
together to discuss the culinary programs at their
schools and how the GDRA might be of assistance.

| PAC Pointer -
Credit and Debit Card
Receipt Clarification Act of 2007
|
GDRA supports the
passage of HR 4008, Credit and Debit Card Receipt Clarification Act
of 2007, which was introduced in the House this
session. The bill would provide a
technical correction and provide clarification for what
information is allowed to be printed on a credit card
receipt. Currently, some credit card companies are
printing the last four digits of a credit card number,
as well as the expiration date. Voiding out the first
digits in the transaction is ample protection to prevent
credit card theft or fraud. Having the expiration date
present, does not put the credit card user at further
risk. To learn more, click
here.
