FSPrep - PREPARING THE CULINARY WORKFORCE OF THE FUTURE
FS Prep, designed by the Texas Restaurant Association Education Foundation (TRAEF), is a two-year, comprehensive culinary and foodservice instructional resource developed for high school teachers and includes daily lesson plans, PowerPoint presentations, lab and lecture guides, supplementary materials, tests and quizzes; all in modular and electronic format.
Developed in 2001 and updated in recent years, FS Prep has been adopted by over 70 high schools throughout Texas. Currently, local chapters of the Texas Restaurant Association (TRA) have begun implementing FS Prep curriculum into their neighborhood schools.
Prior to FS Prep, there was no curriculum designed for culinary educators. FS Prep was developed to alleviate the added stress teachers face with no standard curriculum as well as provide a solid education to the future workforce. Combining nationally accredited culinary arts instructional materials into a user friendly resource for secondary level teachers, FS Prep provides a well-rounded approach to culinary education benefiting students, teachers, schools and parents.
The FS Prep course content and minimum competency requirements complement Texas Education Agency (TEA), Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) and Workforce Education Course Materials (WECM) requirements, providing students with necessary knowledge and skills for continuing post-secondary education.
